On Friday, Kelly Clarkson released her highly anticipated 10th studio album Chemistry. The 14-track project shows off the powerful voice that won her American Idol as the singer expresses a wide range of emotions.
Kelly Clarkson Releases New Album Chemistry
Although you might be thinking of Chemistry as Clarkson’s divorce album, the singer has made it clear that she wanted “to have the album not just be a divorce or breakup album, it was more of a relationship album.”
Now that the project has been released, it’s clear that she accomplished that. The album features defiant songs like “Down to You,” tender ballads like the title track “Chemistry,” and sexy pop anthems like “Favorite Kind of High.“
Clarkson also gets vulnerable and honest about how she’s handling everything on tracks like “Skip This Part” and “High Road.” She even gets tongue-in-cheek on the song “I Hate Love,” featuring Steve Martin on the banjo.
But the standout track on this album is the soulful “Me,” in which Clarkson sings, “I don’t need somebody to hold me / Don’t need somebody to love me / Don’t need somebody to pick these pieces up.”

The Album Is Topping the Charts
Clarkson’s album seems to be a hit with listeners, as the project has reached No. 1 on both the iTunes and Apple Music album charts on Friday. According to one tweet, half the songs on the album are also charting on iTunes.
The singer will be following up the album’s release with a 10-show residency in Las Vegas this summer. The shows kick off on July 28 and will run through August 19 at Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.
